View Photos is a book of every picture taken by a family member at a single location that was uploaded to Facebook.com. It functions as corroborative evidence and speaks to how the other family members view and describe themselves. The quantity of photographs attempts to compensate for what’s lacking in terms of extraordinary imagery. As is the case on Facebook, the sheer number of images makes it virtually impossible to read any one photograph individually. Instead, the quantity provides a way of understanding through forming a screen memory. Compiling the digital information into a physical, printed book subverts the unstable nature of Facebook photographs and provides a fixed object of memory similar to a family album.
